- 3 cups chick peas
- 1 tablespoon lemon
- 2 cloves garlic
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 heaping tablespoon tahini
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- salt and pepper to taste*
Drain and rinse chick peas. Add to food processor or blender and puree until consistent, adding 1/2 cup water as needed. Blend in garlic, lemon and tahini. Spread evenly into a dish. Put a little divit in the centre and pour on a teaspoon of olive oil.
*I use Eden brand chick peas because the cans are free of bisphenol A; however, if you do use Eden you’ll probably need to add more salt since there doesn’t appear to be salt added. I add a teaspoon of sea salt which is just about right for us.
If you want to add a bit of spice to your hummus, throw in some ground cayenne pepper to make it ooh la la!
