how green was my soup?

Well, I suppose it depends on who you ask.  Son would say it’s not very green at all, because it’s brown. But that is what he sees with his eyes, perfect in vision but with the added advantage of colour blindness, which he inherited from his Grandfather Joe.  To me the soup was very green and tasted as rich as it looked.

Two whole heads of broccoli, stalks and all, with a green pepper thrown in for good measure, a potato and an orange bell pepper for contrast.  I kept out some of the florets and the orange pepper strips and blended the rest, standing well back from my blender as I always do because I always overfill it.  That’s usually because by the time I’m ready to blend the soup it’s been at least two hours in the making and I’m starving, so I throw caution to the wind.  That ‘throwing’ also includes my tossing the little one out too, because she’s forever clutching the backs of my knees while I’m handling very hot stuff.  I don’t really throw her, just shuffle her out.  She shuffles well.
