Yes I understand that every life must end
As we sit alone, I know someday we must go
I’m a lucky man to count on both hands the ones I love.

It was an absolutely beautiful day and we three tall people were decked out in sun glasses and junior girl was in stroller with black cotton sundress with multi-coloured embroidery and fashionable mauve hat. By the time we reached Bloor, it was evident that the screen on the stroller wasn’t sufficient to keep her away from the sun and her little legs were starting to turn pink, which did nothing for her outfit (the mauve/burnt skin combination certainly wouldn’t do). While we cursed ourselves for neglecting the child, we headed off to buy sunscreen.
Not being perfect parents we were waylaid by food: fresh pineapple smoothies in the pineapple, corn on the cob dipped in oil and sprinkled with various herbs, fresh ‘decorate yourself’ sweet and sticky buns, and various other delicacies tempted us as we made our way toward the drug store. It was awesome and one of those moments when you realize that you could live almost anywhere else on earth and you wouldn’t have gotten to experience such a variety of ethnic delicacies in such a short length of street. We are so lucky to live in this terrific city.
On our way home we stopped in at our favourite local for a fresh pint and watched Croatia pummel Ireland in the first round of Euro Cup football. While that was unfortunate for this descendant of the Emerald Isle, it wasn’t a bad way to spend a Sunday afternoon.
