Well, we aerated our plonk and it worked, as Sis suggested it would.  Shock and disbelief reigned but we were converted to the aerator.  And it ranks high on the entertainment scale too because of the little gurgling sound that it makes when the wine comes out, as though it smoked three packs of cigarettes a day for 50 years. Neat.
